Airspeed-Sensor
The optionally connectable airspeed sensor consists of a pitot tube and a precision differential pressure sensor. From the measured differential pressure and the air temperature, the ECU calculates the current airspeed of the model. Without connected airspeed sensor, the ECU always works in the so-called "thrust-control" mode. In this normal operating mode, the pilot directly sets the turbine thrust via the throttle stick.
With connected airspeed sensor, the ECU can also be switched to the so-called "speed control" mode. In this mode, the turbine thrust is automatically adjusted by the ECU so that the model's airspeed reaches or holds a preset set point. The information of the airspeed can then be used by the ECU for various functions:
- Measurement / storage of the maximum and average airspeed.
- Measurement of the distance traveled in km.
- Automatic limitation of the maximum allowed airspeed of the model.
- Control of the airspeed analogous to the throttle stick position (= "speed-control" mode)
- Hold the current airspeed (= "hold-speed" mode)
- The various modes are switched on the transmitter by a 3-position switch on a second channel.
